“When you look at this image, who do you see traveling? What’s the direction? What’s the destination? What if the traveler is… you? What’s your destination? I started painting this with a sun and then realized it was actually a gaze. A gaze at the destination of the traveler crossing the calm waters. Many elements here invite you to observe and reflect. We can see the fire with its well-lit flame, the waters through which the traveler crosses, the moving air carrying messages in the wind, and land through a piece of a cliff on the left with vegetation, symbolizing that there is life there.”
